Accommodation
Dating from 1895, this
charming "little Achamore House" is full of character and is ideally
placed to experience the abundant wildlife within the area. The
cottage does have its own delightful garden, growing amongst other
plants the "cabbage palms". However for a real treat Achamore Gardens
can be found just a short walk away. An abundant display of rare
and unusual plants cover 50 acres of secluded gardens and woodland,
and surround the imposing Achamore House.
South Lodge is found to
the south of the island and is very close to the South Pier, where
a fascinating evening can be spent watching the local fishermen
come in and tie up for the night. This is also a very good opportunity
to see the local seals coming to the water surface hoping for a
free meal. You can discuss with the fishermen what will be available
for dinner at the nearby Gigha Hotel, and compare notes about the
'one that got away'!
The spacious lodge sleeps
eight comfortably and is ideal for a large family or two families
sharing. There is central heating throughout, a well-equipped kitchen
with electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine,
drier and dishwasher. The large lounge boasts a cosy log fire and
a full inventory is supplied.
Access
to cottages is after 4pm on day of arrival. Please collect you keys
from the hotel.
