So, this week has been
a very exciting week in the wonderful world of the Gigha website. With the
able assistance of Audrey Dickie in the Trust office, over 40 letters were
sent out to various companies on the island and in the local area with a
view to advertising on the Gigha website. The Gigha website ranks highest
to the search term Gigha of any site, and given the increased costs in both
hosting and maintenance, it was felt that we should try and utilise this
premium ranking to generate some much needed income. The advertising will
be discreet and built into the site, rather than using something as invasive
as Google ads.
The exciting news is that already, several companies have come back and
expressed a desire to pay for the most premium level of advertising. This
means that the website will become cost neutral very quickly, and indeed
may contribute a small level of income back to the Trust. Advertising will
start on the first of January. However, you may notice that some businesses
prominence changes before this as we have offered a couple of months free
if they get the adverts in early. Don't expect huge garish adverts, we have
merely asked the people to contribute financially if they want their business
to appear on the site.
