GIGHA AND CARA

PARISH CHURCH OF SCOTLAND

Reg. Charity no. SC002567

We are sorry that you cannot visit the church at present. We have been having extensive work done on the roof and it is currently a building site. We hope that the church will be open again soon.

The original estimate for the work was about £16000 but when the builders started they found that much more work was needed. The engineer that had inspected the roof thought that two of the “shoes” that hold the rafters would need to be replaced and the rest cleaned up and painted but in fact most of them needed to be replaced. With all the extra work and also the painting which will need to be done the cost has escalated and we now need in the region of £25000. We have received a grant of £5000 from the general trustees of the Church of Scotland and we have raised a considerable sum ourselves but we still need more. If you would like to help towards this project donations can be sent to the minister or to the treasurer – Mrs Susan Allan at Bayview, Isle of Gigha, PA 41 7AD. Cheques should be made out to Gigha and Cara Parish Church .

Thank you very much!
