Gigha Windmills

 Early November 2004

windmill 1After over a year of feasibility studies; tests; planning; meetings; ups and downs, work on the windmills has finally started! Ken Hope contractors are busy building the access road and foundations for the three Gigha Windmills.

The stone for the road and foundations is being extracted from the new Gigha Quarry and delivered to the site by McFadyens . We are assured that the quality of the stone is second to none - we wouldn't expect anything less from Gigha!

As a result of all the additional traffic movement on Gigha, there was the unusual event of a traffic jam on Wednesday evening when several South End residents were stuck at the lodge coming home from work. Unfortunately, the pub was not open so there was no other option for the commuters than to sit it out. Busy times indeed.
